A fire aboard the Norwegian Epic in Saint-Nazaire

A fire broke out Monday, May 3, 20 to 23 hours on board the Norwegian Epic in building at STX.
The blaze broke out at the deck 4 in a technical area, producing a thick smoke. 265 employees who worked on board were evacuated. The firefighters made major means to prevent the spread of the fire finally under control at about 2 o'clock.
Under the direction of the yards, a cross corridor has been destroyed. For now, the origin of the fire remains unknown. The damage has not yet been estimated, and it is "too early" to say whether this incident will affect the delivery date of the scheduled ship June 15

Order of two ships for Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises has announced yesterday, that contracts to build two 3,600-passenger ships have been finalized with Italy's Fincantieri shipyard.

The new ships are scheduled to enter service in spring 2013 and spring 2014. At an estimated 141,000 tons, the as-yet-unnamed ships will be the largest in the Princess Cruises fleet.
